Start-stop on a Jaguar
Recent Jaguar models with start-stop need an EFB or AGM battery. We match the technology your car was built with, because a conventional battery will not last in a start-stop system.

Jaguar puts the battery in the boot on most of its saloons and sports cars, including the XF, XE, XJ and F-Type, and expects it to be AGM. The car's battery monitoring system is strict, so low charge quickly brings warnings and switches features off. After replacement the system has to be reset so it knows a new battery is fitted.

Many start-stop Jaguars use two batteries, a main one for starting and a smaller one that supports the electronics during restarts.
The battery monitoring system should be reset after replacement, which we do with a diagnostic tool.
The I-Pace has a 12V battery that powers the computers, and the car will not wake without it.
Jaguars used for short trips rarely recharge fully, which is why batteries often fade sooner than the mileage suggests.

Yes, on most Jaguars from around 2010 onwards the battery monitoring system should be reset after a new battery. It tells the car to stop treating the battery as aged. Without it start-stop may stay disabled and charging may not suit the new battery.
Many F-Pace versions with start-stop have a main battery and a smaller secondary one. They age at different rates, so we test each one. Often only one needs replacing, though if both are original and several years old, changing them together is sensible.
We can still reach it. The XF has jump-start terminals under the bonnet, so we power the car from there, which lets the boot release work. Then the battery is tested and replaced from the boot with the car's memory kept alive.
Send your location, car make, model and year, plus a short description of the problem. We check battery availability and confirm the next steps.
